Pontus Rubin is a young guitarist whose career we will follow with
admiration. He first picked up the guitar at the age of fifteen. Soon he
found himself as a bandleader and songwriter for local pop groups in his
small hometown in Sweden called Färjestaden where he was born 1982.
Inspiered by punk, hard rock and later on also more progressive rock,
fusion
and jazz music. He will allways mention groups and solo artists such as
Nirvana, Dream Theater, The Beatles, Keith Jarett, Miles Davis and Pat
Metheny as his major influenses. The decision of being a musician was made
at a very early stage.
He says "I became addicted to music after I've learned the first chord on
the guitar. Music is my therapy and I need it no less than twentyfour hours
a day and the beauty is that noone can ever take it it away from me.
Playing
music is my duty in this far too short life"
At the age of twentytwo PR started to study Jazz and Classical guitar in
the
well known Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London. He is there now
studying with John Paricelli and Robert Brightmore. You can hear PR perform
in the London area with different groups and different types of music
mainly
focused on improvisation.
